Useful programs
Technology won't stop and already today we can do things with our smartphones about people wasn't even thinking years before. Of course there are also for model flying very useful programs which can help us or which are just nice to have. I will introduce here some which I'm using on my own.
Desktop:
CoG calculation - WinLaengs4
Not sure if the CoG in the manual is correct? No clue where the CoG is when you bought a used model? here WinLaengs4 can help. it is a very easy to use program which can calculate the neutral point and also the center of gravity. Should not be missing on any model pilot desktop!

Servoselection - calculation of rudder forces:
Who does not know it, the unsafe feeling to not really know if the used servo is strong enough? With this program you can face the truth and after writing the data and geometrical meassurements it will calculate the force which will be on the servo. Smoking servos should not be anymore!

Measureing speeds - WAVEosSCOPE:
Nearly nobody doesn't want to know how fast his model is flying. In times of telemetry it became quite easy to use GPS or similar. Of course this is still very expensive if you wont to have it built in fix.
A very useful program to measure the speed is WAVEosSCOPE which is useing the doppler effect.
With the changeing sound of a constant running engine during a pass, the speed can be calculated very accurate. You only need a possibility to record your flight (wave, not mp3! Choose the highes quality) and then cut out the pass. With that cut, you feed the program and it can calculate the speed.

Desktop - online:
Electric fligh - engine calculation - www.ecalc.ch/
Nearly every one of us had once the problem that he didn't know which prop to choose or if the engine will produce enough thrust or flow velocitiy. The program on ecalc.ch is done exactley for that.
A realy useful site which has a lot of engines stored and which is also most time up to date.

Smartphone:
Speed measurement - RC Speedo, former HK Doppler and before again RCSpeedo
A small tool which calculates the speed of a passing model and which shows it instantley. it works also on the doppler principle like WAVEosSCOPE. it works and it is worth the money, but take care that it can measure only very loud prop driven planes. If it can't measure, you need to do it manualy with WAVEosSCOPE.

Calculation / measureing of the pitch with a helicopter - RC Heli Pitch
Who want's to know the pitch of the blades from his helicopter exactley without a pitch gauge will become a problem. But also there are some mathematical tricks to do that with a gauge. RC Heli pitch is completely free and a very useful program.
