Years ago I've owned a TL01 which was tuned to death and which needed more spare parts then battery chargings. I lost the interesst on it and and it is now collecting dust somewhere... But then I felt the require for a car again. The decision for the TA05 was done quite fast because it was cheap and powerful.
Shipping:
As usual by Tamiya the car arrives in a big box and is packed in all small parts. The packing is done good and there is no reason to be afraid that anything would be damaged through transport.
My setup:
Engine: EZ Run 5.5T 6000kV
ESC: EZ Run 60A
Servo: HK15298B
Receiver: HK GT2R
Battery: Zippy Hardcase 5000mAh 2S 20C

Build up:
With Tamiya kits, there is nothing pre- assembled, you find countless small plastic bags and a very good manual. Even it looks not much, you shouldn't underrate the assembling, you need at least 6-8 hours. As normal with Tamiya, the parts have a very good quality and fit together without any problems. Thats the way for fun with building!
Drice characteristics:
The TA05 is really insane, stucks perfect to the street and can be used by a beginner also as by a professional. Also it is very impressive that changes to the setup really affect the handling a lot more then on other chassis.
With the 5.5T engine it is overpowered a lot, I've meassured real 80km/h. You can see in this video how fast that is:

If we're racing at parking lots, we're reducing the power to around 70%, that's still more then enough but prevents brutal crashes and big wear. If I would build it up again today, I would maybe search for an engine with about 5000kV. The driving time with the 5000 Zippy is nearly insane, 30 minutes aren't a problem, even with much full throttle.
But recently we like much more to do drift races then grip races. The speed is muuuuuch slower, even in direct crashes there are no damages and we can drive with the beatiful bodies. Also it is much more challengeing and exciting then grip races:

Conclusion:
Target group: Beginner to professionals
Finnishing: Easy
Driving characteristics: Very good
Price / performance ratio: Very good
A definitely recommendation, there can't be done anything wrong with that car.
