Nano Quad Pro von RevellName: Nano Quad Pro
Sold by: Miscellaneous Manufacturer: Revell (Estes) Category: Mini Quad Material: Plastic Width / length: 45mm Weight: 11gr. Price: 40€ Link to the Shop: Revell Nano Quad Pro I always declined all the small toy planes which flooded the market, but when I received this small little thing as a gift for birthday, there where no more way around it. I'm flying with mode 4 and nearly everyone knows that nearly all of the toy planes are shipped only in mode 2, that's why it was left over some time by me. But I became more and more interested and so after somy test flights with mode 2 I realized that this small thing can bring a lot of fun and has nothing to do with a toy. So the transmitter was changed to mode 4 and the work was worth it.
Shipping:Shipping contains beside the quad also the transmitter, an USB charge cable, two replacement propeller and a manual. The manual is short but good and written understandable. A power converter for the USB charge cable is unfortunately missing, but you should have some of them lying around already. Only two more AAA batteries for the transmitter and the fun can start.

My Setup - Transmitter modification:As already stated at the beginning I needed to investigate on the transmitter. That manufactures are ignoring mode 4 can't be understand by me. it would be easy to offer always two versions, mode 1+3 and mode 2+4, changeable within the software...
But ok, I did the modification quite easy. I just changed the signal paths from the poti to the mainboard by swapping them with a cable. You only need to take care and work very exactly, also you need to know that the direction will then be changed, so you need to swap also the cables before the go to the mainboard to get the directions right. here are some pictures I took during the modification: |
Flight characteristics:
In short: It flies like a big one.
With a short push on the right stick, you can adjust the agility. After turning the power on, it is automaticly in the beginner mode. So he levels horizontal without any steering inputs and the elctrics only allows an flight angle of about 5-10°. So he is also very easy to fly for a beginner and I think it would be possible that also a beginner could start to learn to fly with it.
With one push on the rights stick it changes to the advanced mode. Here he is also stabilizing on it's own into a neutral position, but the allowed angle is now about 25°. Here he becomes quite agile, but it is not anymore full beginner compatible. Tht's the mode where the advanced pilot can start in the living room.
With one more push on the right stick it changes to the professional mode, here he is still on it's own stable, but the electronic allows now angles up to 45°. That's quite much and the small thing comes really to life. With this mode, it is no problem to fly outside with less or medium wind.
The pro version has one more small feature, if you push the left stick, the transmitter starts to peep for 5 seconds, if you steer within this time full nick or roll, he will do a salto or roll. Has only less to do with a classic looping or roll, and I would call it a somersault, but it loosk nice and generates a wow effect for the audience.
Flight time is between 3 and 5 minutes according to how you are flying, chargeing is done in about 20 minutes. The visibility of the small quad is very good because of the build in LED's, in a room and also outside. Also the LED's start to flash if the batterie starts to get weak.
